AMBASSADOR MULL S. KATENDE PRESENTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO H.E. PRESIDENT MAURICIO MACRI OF ARGENTINA: FEBRUARY 26, 2019, BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

AMBASSADOR MULL S. KATENDE PRESENTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE

Ambassador Katende, who is Uganda's Ambassador to the United States of America, is now concurrently non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the Republic of Argentina.

H.E. President Macri welcomed Amb.Katende and congratulated him on his appointment as Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Uganda to Argentina with residence in Washington D.C. Heasked Ambassador Katende to convey his personal greetings and best wishes to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the Republic of Uganda.

H.E. President Macri mentioned that Argentina and Uganda have good bilateral relations; however, these needed to be strengthened and lifted to a higher level. He called for increased cooperation between Argentina and Uganda in political, economic, social and cultural areas.

 Ambassador Katende thanked H.E. President Macri for the opportunity to present his Letters of Credence and conveyed greetings and best wishes from H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.  He pledged to work hard, with the assistance of Uganda's Honorary Consul, Dr.Enrique Segura, to enhance and boost bilateral relations between Uganda and Argentina.

 Ambassador Katende said that he would focus on promoting trade, investment, tourism, education and cultural cooperation between Uganda and Argentina.

 H.E. President Macri wished Ambassador Katende well in his new appointment and pledged the support of his government to work towards stronger cooperation with Uganda at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

 H.E. President Mauricio Macri also received Letters of Credence on the same day of seven other Ambassadors-designate of the following countries: Cyprus, Mauritania, Guyana, Rwanda, Lithuania, Republic of Congo and San Marino.

Ambassador Katende and the seven other newly accredited Ambassadors left the President's Office after presenting their Letters of Credence and were led to San Martin's square to lay a wreath at the General San Martin Monument in honor of Jose de San Martin. the National Liberation Hero of the Argentine Republic. Jose de San Martin was an Argentine Soldier, Statesman and National hero who led the revolutions against Spanish rule in Argentina (1812), Chile (1818) and Peru (1821).

AmbassadorMull S. Katende and the other newly accredited Ambassadors to the Republic of Argentina (Republic of Congo, Cyprus, Guyana, Lithuania, Mauritania, Rwanda and San Marino) interacted with H.E. Jorge Faurie, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina on bilateral cooperation between Argentina and there spective countries.

Ambassador Mull S. Katende and other newly accredited Ambassadors receive the Guard of Honor Salute by the General San Martin Grenadiers Regiment

Ambassador Mull S. Katende joined the newly accredited Ambassadors of Cyprus, Mauritania,Guyana, Rwanda, Lithuania, Republic of Congo and San Marino to pay respect at the monument of the Argentine Liberation Hero General San Martin at the San Martin Square in Buenos Aires. Jose de San Martin was an Argentine Soldier,Statesman and National Hero who led the revolutions against Spanish rule in Argentina (1812), Chile (1818) and Peru (1821).

Amb.Mull S. Katende, accompanied by Honorary Consul Dr. Enrique Segura (First-right) met with Mr. Pablo Quirno, Head of International Economic Relations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina (Third-left). They discussed economic opportunities of cooperation between Argentina and Uganda.

Ambassador Mull S. Katende met with Mr. Mariano Simon-Padros, Director of Africa and Middle East Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship. They agreed to develop a Framework of cooperation in Identified areas of cooperation including Agreements that need to be negotiated and signed in the immediate future.

Ambassador Mull S. Katende accompanied by his delegation met with Mr. Gustavo Grobocopatel (Second-Right), Chairman of Los Grobo Group, which is the largest producer(500,000 hectares) and exporter of Soy Beans in Argentina. Ambassador Katende invited him to Uganda to explore opportunities in Commercial Farming.

Ambassador Mull S. Katende and Honorary Consul Dr. Enrique Segura met with Private Sector Business Entrepreneurs at a specially organized dinner. He interacted with them on business opportunities in Uganda
