Amb. Mull Katende presents credentials to Governor-General of Jamaica

Tuesday, 10th March 2020 Amb. Mull Sebujja Katende joined 6 other Ambassadors and High Commissioners-designate in presenting copies of his credentials to the Foreign Minister Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith and Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of Jamaica, H.E. Patrick Allen today in Kingston.

Amb. Katende extended warm greetings from President Y.K. Museveni and recalling all the years of working together.

The presentation of credentials ceremony marks the beginning of Jamaica's Annual Diplomatic week, which shall highlight various areas of cooperation between Jamaica and other countries.

Uganda and Jamaica formally established Diplomatic ties in 2011.

Noting the need for a higher level of engagement between Africa and the Caribbean, Amb. Katende expressed the desire of Uganda to sign cooperation framework agreements with Jamaica in the near future.

Senator Johnson-Smith agreed with this sentiment stating that more should be done to strengthen ties between African and Caribbean peoples beyond the ACP, in the areas of trade, culture, sports and scientific cooperation. She took the opportunity to invite Uganda to attend the forthcoming Jamica Trade Expo from April 29th-May 3rd 2020.

In addition to representing Uganda in the United States,  Amb. Katende is accredited to several countries in the Caribbean and South America whilst resident in Washington, D.C.

He was accompanied at the ceremonies by his wife Maliam Nalumansi Katende and Margaret Kafeero, Counselor.
